Prompt writing playbook for cleaner motion and framing

A reusable prompt framework for subject clarity, camera motion, and revision loops so your outputs improve without random guesswork.

Write in production order, not in poetic order.
Camera instructions should be specific and singular.
Revise one variable at a time.

1. Lead with the thing the viewer must remember

If the subject is vague, every later style note becomes weaker. Start with the object, person, or scene that carries the message, then add the environment around it.

  • Name the subject before adjectives.
  • Keep one primary subject in the first sentence.
  • Reserve secondary props for the end of the prompt.

2. Use one motion instruction per shot

Models react better when the motion language is singular and directional. Instead of stacking pan, zoom, and orbit together, choose the one move that best sells the scene.

  • Pan for reveal, dolly for emphasis, orbit for object focus.
  • Describe speed with soft terms such as slow or gentle.
  • Avoid conflicting motion verbs in the same sentence.

3. Build a revision loop that teaches you something

When outputs miss the mark, trim the prompt back to a simpler base and test one variable. This keeps the iteration legible and prevents accidental regressions.

  • Change lens feel before changing the whole scene.
  • Test style and lighting separately.
  • Keep winning prompt fragments in a reusable library.
